NEW 2024/25: For infants, primary, secondary, adults A1
Pack your bags and prepare for a multicultural, multi-genre musical trip around the world. This concert explores English language songs from five different continents. On the journey we'll discover songs about human rights: Get up, stand up – Bob Marley (Jamaica), Beds are burning – Midnight oil (Australia), about gender issues: Gender game – tamtam (Saudi Arabia), God allow me, please, to play music – Voice of Baceprot (Indonesia), about migration: Cumbia de donde – Calexico (U.S/Mexico) happiness: Beautiful day - U2 (Ireland), and, of course, love: Love me jeje- Tems (Nigeria), Jai ho! – A.R. Rahman/Pussycat dolls (India).
Besides challenges, surprises and moments of joy, travel also offers opportunities to share and team up… Blinding lights - The Weeknd and Rosalía (Canada/Spain), A.P.T. - Rosé (Blackpink) and Bruno Mars (South Korea and U.S.A.), Baby, this is what you came for – Calvin Harris and Rihanna (Scotland/ Barbados).
We’ll also stop in the U.S.A (Tutti frutti - Little Richard) and England (Hey Jude - The Beatles) to consider where much of the inspiration for contemporary songs in English has come from.
For primary and infant students of English the set list changes slightly with some fun songs (Laughing Kookaburra- Australia, Hakuna Matata – Africa, and Walk like an Egyptian) as well as some adaptations to other songs such as Bob Marley’s daughter’s children’s version of "Get up, stand up".
An A1 level of English is all that is needed for this particular trip. The more difficult songs will have some translation of the lyrics in Spanish.
